Pediatric cardiology examinations, ECG, and cardiac ultrasound for children and adolescents in 1070 Vienna. Compassionate, child-friendly, and with extensive experience.

Pediatric cardiology is a subspecialty of pediatrics and adolescent medicine and deals with diseases and abnormalities of the heart in children and adolescents. The pediatric heart differs significantly from the adult heart in terms of anatomy and typical disease patterns. Reliable diagnosis requires specialized experience and the right equipment. At the Glückskind Pediatric Center, pediatric cardiology examinations are available directly in our practice. Our team will accompany you from the initial assessment to follow-up care.
The EKG measures the electrical activity of the heart and provides information about heart rhythm disorders and other abnormalities. This examination is painless.
Functional heart murmurs are caused by normal blood flow in a healthy heart and are very common in children. They are not a sign of heart disease and do not require treatment. In contrast, organic heart murmurs can indicate heart defects or other structural changes. An echocardiogram can reliably distinguish between the two. Does an echocardiogram hurt? Is there radiation exposure? No. An ultrasound is completely painless and radiation-free. A transducer is placed on the skin with some gel. Your children can sit or lie on their parents' laps in a relaxed manner during the procedure.
Yes. An ECG is a painless examination. Small electrodes are attached to the skin and measure the electrical signals of the heart. The examination only takes a few minutes and is suitable for children of all ages. In special cases, a 24-hour Holter monitor can provide further information.
The most common congenital heart defects are holes in the heart walls (septal defects), narrowed heart valves or the aorta, and malformations of the major blood vessels. In addition, there are also other heart conditions such as myocarditis or high blood pressure.
60-80 percent of all severe heart defects are recognized prenatally. Together with pulse oximetry screening, the vast majority of severe heart defects are detected. However, since not all of them are detected, it is important to have an examination done if symptoms (as described above) occur.
